ABSTRACT: This communication discusses the perennial gender disparity in science, focusing on the underrepresentation of women in research and leadership roles, particularly in specialized fields like Coleopterology. Significant barriers continue to hinder women's participation in scientific fields. The case of Dr. Analyn Anzano Cabras, a noted Filipino weevil specialist, exemplifies the need to celebrate iconic women scientists to inspire future generations and promote gender equality in academia. This paper also presents Dr. Cabras as an iconic woman scientist and a celebrated Coleopterist whose contributions to science led to the discovery of approximately a hundred beetle species. She has also mentored many budding scholars, making her legacy an indelible mark in Philippine biodiversity research and conservation. This study advocates for increased visibility, mentorship, and support for women in science, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals on gender equality (SDG 5).
