About the Gender Research and Policy Journal

The Gender Research and Policy Journal (GRPJ) serves as a prominent platform for advancing knowledge on gender issues through rigorous academic investigation and discussion. Published annually by the Regional Gender and Development Advocates’ Network XI (RGAN XI), it is accessible both in print and online, ensuring broad reach and engagement. The journal prides itself on a constructive editorial process, where authors receive guidance to enhance the quality and integrity of their research. By welcoming contributions from local, regional, and international perspectives, it fosters a diverse academic discourse, essential for addressing the multifaceted and cross-disciplinary nature of gender-related challenges globally.

GRPJ provides a platform for the intersection of regional and international perspectives on gender, gender-related issues, and gendered realities. It encompasses a wide scope of research articles and policy briefs focused on gender equality, women's empowerment, masculinities, LGBTQIA+ studies, gender roles, gender analysis, gender intersectionality, and other related topics. The journal aims to capture the diverse experiences and challenges faced by individuals and communities around the globe. Its inclusive approach ensures that voices from various cultural, social, and political contexts are represented, fostering a holistic understanding of gender and its policy implications. Articles authored by Filipino scholars or that include regional perspectives and discourses in the Philippines are given priority.

Submitted manuscripts will initially be reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief (EIC) to determine their alignment with the journal's aims and scope, and the EIC may suggest revisions prior to sending them to external referees to enhance the chances of acceptance. Each manuscript undergoes a double-blind review process involving two referees, and their comments and recommendations are relayed to the authors without alteration. If the two referees have conflicting opinions regarding the manuscript, the EIC may invite a third reviewer to provide further insight. The EIC shall accept, ask for revisions (i.e., major or minor), or reject the manuscript based on the referee’s recommendations.

RGAN XI is a non-profit, apolitical, nonsectarian, and non-stock organization that promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment (GEWE), while upholding inclusivity, ethical principles, and professionalism through academic exercises, scholarly discourses, and community engagements. It was established on December 12, 2023, in response to the regional clamor for intensive capacity-building initiatives on GAD implementation. It is membered by private and public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and is recognized by the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XI (CHEDRO XI).
